With innovation and collaboration at the heart of WCL Education (formerly LiveConnections), “musical match-making” has become one of our specialties.

Our concert series features curated programs that pair artists from distinct musical genres who might not otherwise work together. Imagine a classical guitarist with a traditional Arab ensemble. Or an electronica-inspired theremin player with a rock’n’roll string quintet.

Artists include major prize-winners (Grammys, Pew Fellows, M-Prize and more), local favorites and emerging talent. We look for intersections within our local community and frequently involve students and community groups in the music-making. The collaborations initiated by WCL Education have sparked new ensembles, ongoing performance series and a revitalized approach to concert music in the Philadelphia region.

WCL Education incubates new ideas, regularly featuring world premieres and commissioning new music. Our music is fresh, socially engaged, responsive to our social and political landscape. It’s not something you’ve heard anywhere else.

Concerts take place at World Cafe Live, where audiences can enjoy the show with food and drink, excellent sound, and an intimate, laid-back atmosphere.

Accessibility

We aim to create a welcoming concert experience for all guests. World Cafe Live is ADA accessible, with an elevator and handicap accessible restrooms on all floors. Our concerts are seated events with tables and chairs that can easily be moved/arranged for wheelchairs or mobility devices. ASL interpretation, audio description and/or large print programs may be available upon request; please inquire at least 2 weeks in advance. Although we encourage an atmosphere of quiet listening out of respect for the artists, we understand that some guests may need to vocalize or move. Generally, our concerts do not contain sudden loud noises or flashing lights. Please contact us in advance so that we can accommodate any special needs.
