School and Community Partners

LiveConnections.org is committed to building relationships with schools, community groups and other arts and civic organizations. In seeking to connect all kinds of people through all kinds of music, we want to support existing efforts and create partnerships that can spur new opportunities for kids, adults and special needs populations.

In our first year, we're excited to be in partnership with three terrific organizations that represent the kind of range we hope to build upon:

Freire Charter School: This Center City Philadelphia high school provides a college-preparatory learning experience with a focus on individual freedom, critical thinking, and problem solving. This year, the entire 10th grade of Freire is participating in three Bridge Sessions with LCO, exploring world percussion, and the connections among rhythm, writing and movement. Learn more about Freire Charter School at www.freirecharterschool.org.

Art-Reach: Art-Reach is a Delaware Valley nonprofit cultural service organization that helps underserved audiences to experience arts and cultural programming and that serves as a community resource by increasing accessibility to cultural venues and events. LCO and Art-Reach have teamed up to bring several Art-Reach member groups to Bridge Sessions. Learn more about Art-Reach at www.art-reach.org.

LINC Philadelphia: LINC (the acronym for Leveraging Investments in Creativity) is a ten-year national initiative to improve conditions for artists in all disciplines, so that artists can more readily do their creative work and contribute to community life. LINC Philadelphia is one of 10 pilot initiatives nationwide. As part of its mission to provide resources for musicians, LCO has joined with LINC Philadelphia to sponsor two workshops for teaching artists or those interested in developing skills as teaching artists.
